My Tribute to...
This lady was a retired teacher who helped the community by playing the role of a non-paid crossing guard. Faithfully every morning she would be on the job to see to it that the children crossed the street at Dickens and Melvina.
Although she had repeatedly asked to have a crossing guard at the location due to the number of children passed that corner, and the number of cars that drove by, the city consistently refused her. Thus, to protect the children, she did the job herself.
