Radio Flyer is a Chicago based company that produced the Radio Flyer Wagon.  I remember in my youth, which is more years than I really care to think back on, my parents bought me a Wagon.  I used it to ride back and forth on the sidewalk and use it to get groceries for the family. 

It really was a multi-purpose wagon.  If you needed anything moved, you first saw if the Wagon could hold it.  You usually didn’t think of the weight because it was built very sturdy and could hold a lot.  Most of the concern would be of packages falling over on top.  The top had sides, of course, but the sides did not extend upwards that much.

Back then everything was produced right here in Chicago in a plant that was located where Fullerton and Grand Avenues meet.  I would constantly look at that plant because the informational pickets I had informing the people about general items of community concern happened right across the street from this plant.

Over the last few months, Radio Flyer had seemed to neglect its responsibility to the community and not maintain a portion of its property located directly across from the picket spot.  Here is one video showing the problem.

Shortly after this video was shot, we started to take some other pictures of the building, just to show the difference.

Then, we see that Radio Flyer called in the crew to do the job.

Laws are supposedly written for everyone, without exception.  Well, apparently not quite.

In Chicago and many of the surrounding suburbs there is a law that is commonly referred to as the “Sign Ordinance.”  Briefly, this ordinance is set up so that people cannot place advertisements on the parkway, trees or other “common” areas that people matriculate.  Of course, there are exceptions to this and it usually happens around election time when every political figures splatters signs all over the place.  Also, there may be exceptions to this in that some “unknown” candidate will receive a citation/fine for placing signs on the public way.

The application of the law seems to be relativistic.  If a person is connected in some way to an incumbent politician or has enough money behind then, then the laws are overlooked.

In Chicago, one of the departments that enforces the Sign Ordinance is Streets and Sanitation.  Within a ward, either a Ward Superintendant or the RCC, which is short for refuse collection coordinator, can write a ticket.

Here is one example where the law is overlooked.

It is unfortunate not only because it is a violation of the Sign Ordinance, but further shows the lack of social consciousness this company practices.

The fact of the matter is that the last scare government created, the H1N1 flu virus, was a concoction conceived by the brain child of the CDC, the FDA and big pharma.  Many people fell for this nonsense.  Why do I say nonsense?  Simple.  If there really was a pandemic as reported in the media, then people would be dropping like flies.  This didn’t happen.  Of course there were deaths but not at the pandemic level that was touted by governmental entities.  In fact, there are far more deaths from diabetics than the H1N1 ever had.  There are a host of other diseases that are more critical to find a cure for than the flu.

Walgreens, in its quest to make more money, does so without any social consciousness and clearly violates laws in the process.

Usually, the same group of people attend these meetings periodically to report on all the problems within their community; it’s usually the same problem being reported all the time.

Fact is, nothing gets done that is a positive.  The beat facilitator jots down some notes or tells people to write or call their alderman and that’s it.  Do we taxpayers really need to spend more than $10 million dollars for such nonsense?

What does Community Service Do?

The same things that CAPS is supposed to accomplish should actually be the task of Community Service.  Community Service is already funded through the CPD budget.  By the way, this duplication of services is quite prominent within the City of Chicago.  In essence, this is charging the taxpayer twice for the same service.  This type of thing should stop.

Putting Taxpayer Money to Better Use

It is no great surprise that the City of Chicago is in debt.  Currently, as reported in both the Sun-Times and Chicago Reader, the deficit is over $650,000,000.00.

The Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is in debt, according to their own data, nearly $600,000,000.00.

Daley now want to cut $30,000,000.00 from the City of Chicago City Colleges for classes that deal with remedial work.  Interesting because from my point of view, these classes are already covered in assessments.  A legal battle should be forthcoming for if Daley is allowed to continue with such a plan, the City of Chicago will have denied a service that taxpayers have paid for through tax assessments.

Wayne Strnad Makes People Aware

One of the problems in dealing with a bureaucracy is putting information to the public.  The larger the local government is the more difficult the task to inform the population.  Newspapers usually do not cover items unless it deals with something terrible happening.  Investigative reporting?  That is pretty much a thing of the past.

What Wayne Strnad has taken upon himself to do is inform the people of various issues that need discussion or change.  He does this through an informational picket.  You can find Wayne at the south end of the Brickyard Mall, right near the railroad crossing.  If you have the time, stop by and talk to him.  He is a very knowledgeable person who is not afraid to share his knowledge with people and, perhaps more importantly, does not charge anything.

In the video below, Strnad exposes the CAPS program as a waste of taxpayers money. It is at least a $10,000,000.00 expense every year that could be used in other ways, such as funding education.  Now that price tag might not seem like a lot to some people but to the average working person, assuming they are not one of the 11% unemployed (if you can believe government numbers), that is a great deal of money.

For more than a decade Stella Nicpon, a community activist residing in Beat 2515 and community resident of more than 50 years, has pointed to several problems that need to be addressed.  All her efforts have fallen on deaf ears because the beat facilitator tends to do nothing and cover up any problems.  Instead of addressing the problem and act as a voice of the community, he tells people to write or call someone.  This is his solution to nearly everything that is presented.

What’s being sold is the Flu Shoot.  You might recall that last year the media, CDC, AMA and a host of other big pharma companies were trying to scare people into believing that there was some pandemic that his the entire nation.  This, of course, was total nonsense and anyone who believed that there was some major concern that we all need a flu shot, was simply mislead.  However, it is big business with a high profit margin.

In case you are wondering, several people did die however there are more deaths for many other diseases than flu.  That’s a fact.

No matter what you call it, be it a housing collapse, bubble burst, or whatever, the fact is that many homeowners have reached the point that the value of their home is not even close to the amount that they must pay to the mortgage company. 

In fact, many a home throughout the country has lost its market value upward of 50%.  However, the fact remains that in Cook County, Illinois, the Cook County Assessor has not decreased the amount of taxes for the home owner and actually increased the property tax.

Many people feel this is unjust and for a wide variety of reasons.

There used to be a cap on the property tax increase that the State of Illinois Legislature fixed at 7%.  However, that went by the wayside a couple of years ago because Madigan couldn’t muster enough votes to pass the legislation in the house – we wonder if he really put forward in the initiative to make it happen and actually pursued the matter.

Also, in the City of Chicago, there is high unemployment; currently it’s hovering around 11% if you can believe government numbers, which we don’t due to the manner in which these stats are computed.

There are no incentives whatsoever that have hit the open market yet that would allow for the creation of jobs – the poultry 20K or 30K jobs that were allegedly created do not even represent .000001% of the total people that are unemployed.  Congress needs to stand up and be counted to a real job creation bill that employs millions, not a few thousand.

If you’re a Republican then should you take pride in what your party has done to all the working people who cannot find work?  Fact is, for every one job there are, as of this writing, 5 applicants.  Yet, it was the Republican administration of the Bushy Boy reign, that started the bailout of the rich – the bankers whose fiscal irresponsibility led to the near collapse of the banking industry.  Unemployment during the Bush administration was steadily on the rise, peaking near 760,000 job losses every month.

Some view this defeat of the unemployment benefits extension as a resounding sign that government is simply not working for the people, or, should I say, not all the people.  However, it is working for a select few, usually defined in monetary terms as the rich.  After all, they can afford to make millions on a daily basis and end up paying zero (0) dollars in taxes.  Something is definitely wrong with this picture.

Illegal FDA Actions Violate Administrative Procedures Act & FACA Act

The FDA is engaged in illegal conferencing with regulatory counterparts in Canada & Mexico for the purpose of creating one set of "harmonized" food and drug regulations for ALL THREE COUNTRIES: http://www.fda.gov/oia/charter.html This is part of the planned destruction of America. It is part of a plan to force America into a "NORTH AMERICAN UNION" patterned after the EU. See: "Building a North American Community" http://www.cfr.org/publication/8102/building_a_north_american_community.html FDA is attempting to get AROUND the will of the American people and the will of congress thru this conferencing which the PEOPLE of Canada, the US and Mexico have no input into. In the SCOPE section at http://www.fda.gov/oia/charter.html, FDA says this: SCOPE OF WORK "The Trilateral Cooperation serves the mutual interests of all three countries and provides a forum for participants to discuss effective means for achieving its mission. Joint problem-solving techniques and consensual decision-making processes are used in reaching resolution of issues in a way that advances public health and gives consideration to the economic impact of health fraud. To avoid duplication and overlap, the Trilateral Cooperation should not deal with issues that are being discussed in other fora unless requested to do so as a means of solving a specific problem affecting the three countries or unless directed to do so by the Heads of Delegation. The Committee recognizes that the work under the Trilateral Cooperation is not a substitute for bilateral cooperation, nor does it impose obligations on its counterparts. Countries should use existing and new fora to discuss bilateral issues." HOW IS THIS A THREAT? We must never forget how the FDA and their international counterparts define "health fraud." The world’s FDA’s function as trade associations for pharmaceutical companies. They are paid millions of dollars in fees from the pharmaceutical companies to put Rx drugs thru their less than scientific "approval process." Furthermore, there is a revolving door between the drug companies and the FDA as many leave the FDA to go to work for the drug companies. The FDA’s defines "health fraud" to encompass any health claim made about any non patentable natural substance, regardless of how true it is, if it cuts into the sale of Rx drugs. They also consider health fraud to include any non mainstream, alternative medical approach (any approach not involving the use of patented prescription or OTC drugs that have been thru their so called "approval" process. Read "Why is the FDA Picking on Cherries? "http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2006/mar2006_cover_cherries_01.htm and you’ll see the the FDA is currently attacking the Cherry Industry, threatening to start raiding cherry orchards, unless the industry stops making health claims about the therapeutic effects of Cherries that are endorsed by the US Department of Agriculture. "The FDA does not want the cherry industry to tell people that recent studies show that cherries contain substances that are potentially 10 times stronger than aspirin or ibuprofen for relieving pain. It does not want the public to know that substances in cherries may kill cancer cells and prevent cancer. It makes no difference whether these statements are true. What’s important is that the public not be told that a natural substance (cherries) has been shown to work as well as or better than an unnatural one (ibuprofen)." "Only drugs, according to the FDA’s legal doctrine, can prevent, treat, mitigate, or cure disease. If something does those things, it’s a drug. And if it’s a drug, it has to be tested for its ability to do those things. In this double-speak world, no natural substance can do anything significant against disease-that is, unless it undergoes testing as a drug. Attempts at slaying this many-headed monster of convoluted truths have only made it grow new heads." The FDA is claiming that statements made by the Cherry Industry on their websites are an extension of the labelling of their products, and they’re pressuring the Cherry industry to stop making these claims. The Cherry Industry is fighting back in the courts claiming that the FDA is violating their First Amendment Right to free speech. Efforts are underway to get a bill through congress called the Health Freedom Protection Act to stop this FDA censorship. The pharmaceutical industry and the FDA’s of Canada, the USA and Mexico have no USE for national laws that "interfere" with Pharma’s efforts to block the use of natural products. They have no USE for the US Constitution and its First Amendment. They have no use for laws like DSHEA, or the Health Freedom Protection Act so they’re all in FAVOR of ABOLISHING AMERICA and forcing all 3 countries together into the planned NORTH AMERICAN UNION, where we’d have much less input into the legislative process than we do now and everything would be dictated to us. The FDA is in clear violation of the Administrative Procedure’s Act, and the Federal Advisory Committee’s Act via this conferencing, and I want Congress to rein them in via Oversight Hearings and direct intervention to stop this.
